Maria dos Remedios

Maria's extensive dental experience began in 1979 in her very first job – a 'girl friday' at a large dental laboratory in Sydney. Recognising Maria’s skills and enthusiasm, her employer encouraged her to become a dental technician. In 1984 Maria completed her Certificate and spent the next two years training to become a registered dental technician.

In 1987 Maria opened her own laboratory in Hurstville, providing prosthetic services to dentists in the St George area. Deciding she would like to directly deal with patients, Maria qualified as a dental prosthetist in 1989 and opened a denture clinic at Blacktown. In January 1991 Dial-A-Denture was established at Kogarah, servicing both patients and dentists.

Maria’s love of learning and new challenges led to further qualifications as a registered dental therapist, graduating from Westmead Hospital in 2003. In 2004 she moved to Adelaide to complete studies as a registered dental hygienist.

Maria has attended numerous short courses and conferences, constantly striving to keep abreast of the ever-advancing world of dentistry.

Tracey Atkinson

Tracey commenced dental training in 1982 at Randwick College of TAFE and registered as a Dental Technician 1986. She then travelled abroad investigating dental laboratories and clinics overseas, she returned to work in Australia at the United Dental Hospital Sydney in the Maxillo-Facial Department. While fabricating eyes, ears, noses and splints for compromised and disadvantaged patients she studied to become a registered dental prosthetist.

Tracey's further studies include Branemark implants; Anatomical Articulators Course, Basic Methods of Instruction Certificate IV, BPS (clinical and technical) and implant overdentures. Some years ago she also upgraded her qualifications to Diploma of Dental Technology and an Advanced Diploma in Dental Prosthetics.

In 1991 Tracey was employed by TAFE to teach part-time at both the Dental Technicians Diploma Course at Randwick and the Dental Prosthetists Ad. Dip. at the Sydney Dental Hospital.

Tracey is a member of the Oral Professionals Health Association (OPHA) and the Australian Dental Prosthetists Association.
